Dissolution Of Punjab Assembly Sent To Governor By CM Elahi

A summary for dissolving the Punjab Assembly has been signed by Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and forwarded to Governor Balighur Rehman.

The summary issued by CM Elahi on Thursday read, “I Parvez Elahi Chief Minister of Punjab, hereby advise you to dissolve the provincial assembly.”

In the early hours of Thursday, CM Elahi proved his majority in Punjab’s provincial assembly, winning the much-hyped vote of confidence despite a commotion and the opposition’s boycott.

During the vote of confidence, which took place after midnight, the coalition of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won with the support of 186 lawmakers – the minimum number required to win the trust vote.

On 12 January, CM Elahi met PTI Chief Imran Khan at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.

According to the Storyline correspondent, the two leaders discussed the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly and the next steps to dissolve the Punjab Assembly.

In a press conference in Lahore, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry confirmed the development, saying Imran Khan has fulfilled his promise to dissolve the assemblies. “Now PTI will go into elections and Pakistan is heading towards general elections.”

He also added that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly would be dissolved after Punjab Assembly.

A letter was also sent to PML-N leader and Opposition Leader Mr. Hamza Shehbaz for the formation of a caretaker government in Punjab.

Later, Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman tweeted that he had received a summary of the dissolution of the assembly.
