The instant messaging platform WhatsApp, owned by Meta, will cease supporting some smartphones, including those from Apple and Samsung, starting December 31. In the past, the company has pulled out support for obsolete or outdated smartphones. It does so for old or outdated operating systems.
As of today, WhatsApp works on Android 4.1 and above, iOS 12 and above, and KaiOS 2.5.0 and above. In addition to ending support for iPhones running iOS 10 and 11, it will also stop working on Android smartphones running versions before Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
According to news reports, the following smartphones will no longer receive any updates from next year, including new features and security patches. As a result, the platform will eventually stop supporting these smartphones. As a result, the majority of the smartphones on this list are either out of date or run outdated operating systems.
