According to sources, the Federal Cabinet approved price reductions of up to 30% on 20 essential medicines on Tuesday.
Prime Minister, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif presided over a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad where the decision was made.
The cabinet was informed that medicine prices rose up to 700% during the previous administration’s term in office.
Pakistan’s Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel announced that the cabinet had also decided to set prices for 54 new pharmaceuticals. He claims that these medications are necessary for the treatment of cancer and other chronic illnesses.
He also said in a Media Report, that ensuring access to medications is the administration’s top priority. The Health Minister proclaimed that the current administration is committed to providing appropriate relief to the people.
