Khaby Lame, the world’s most-followed TikTok creator, has joined “Italia’s Got Talent” as a juror.
Following his layoff from a factory job in March 2020, Lame launched a TikTok channel in which he performed absurdly comic skits that went viral.
TikTok star whose comedy bits started with ironic takes on life hacks relies on iconic facial expressions and body language in videos delivered without speech so that humor can be understood universally. On the hit talent show, the short-form comedy video virtuoso will debut as an Italian TV personality. He has over 154 million followers on TikTok.
In 2022, Lame was a member of the Cannes Film Festival’s #TikTokShortFilm jury. At the time, Cambodian auteur Rithy Panh (“The Missing Picture”) presided over that jury.
The upcoming edition of “Italia’s Got Talent” has moved from pay-TV operator Sky to Disney+ in Italy, marking the first time the hit Fremantle format will air on a streaming service in Europe.
Khaby Lame will join the upcoming edition of “Italia’s Got Talent” as a new jury member alongside Elettra Lamborghini, the granddaughter of Ferruccio Lamborghini, an Italian automaker. Mara Maionchi and Frank Matano, an Italian-American comedian, actor and YouTuber, will also return to the show as jurors.
“Italia’s Got Talent” auditions have been held in Avellino, a southern Italian city near Naples, where comedians Aurora and Fru are members of The Jackal, a group of Neapolitan comics who gained popularity on YouTube. There is still no word on the exact date of Disney+’s release.
