According to the latest report by PTA, Facebook Messenger is the second most popular messaging app in Pakistan after WhatsApp.
For increased security, the popular messaging app now includes end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Like WhatsApp and Instagram, Messenger is finally getting E2EE, meaning that only you will be able to access your messages. Facebook will not be able to see into them either.
With E2EE onboard, Meta is bringing back some of the features you’re already familiar with.
• With chat themes, you can add custom backgrounds with static and gradient color options for your text bubbles similar to Instagram’s direct messages.
• Your emoji reactions will now be fully customizable allowing you to choose from the full list of emojis.
• With group profile photos, organizing your group chats should be easier than ever. For example, if you have multiple group chats with similar names, you can now easily distinguish between them.
• You can preview what a hyperlink contains without having to open it with link previews.
• With Active Status, you can see if someone is currently using the app or when they were last active.
• A bubble with your friend’s profile picture will float on your screen wherever you go, letting you read and reply to their chats while using other apps on Android.
The company promises that over the next few months, users will see an extra layer of protection on their chats.
