Preparations For General Elections 2023 Have Started: ECP

Pakistan’s Election Commission has begun preparations for the general elections in 2023.

In a letter sent on Saturday, the election body urged all regional offices to share draft lists of polling stations with the police and Rangers.

Regional election commissioners have been asked to seek feedback from the concerned institutions regarding their categorization of ‘sensitive’ and ‘very sensitive’ polling stations.

At sensitive polling stations, Military soldiers and Rangers will be deployed.

In addition to watermarked ballot papers, the ECP has decided to use ballot papers with special features.

A total of 220 million ballot papers were printed last time, and nearly 240 million ballot papers are expected to be printed this time. There were approximately 118.2 million registered voters in the 2018 elections, according to the ECP. More than 120 million voters are expected to vote in this election.
