After the Taliban took power on August 15, 2021, Afghans have faced endless challenges. The hardline Islamic regime’s repressive policies have resulted in food shortages, violations against women, and increasing insecurity.
According to Save the Children, the Norwegian Refugee Council, CARE International, and the International Rescue Committee, four international aid agencies have suspended their humanitarian programs in Afghanistan in response to the Taliban administration’s recent order to prohibit female employees from working. According to the Taliban, their newest policy, which was condemned globally, was justified because some women did not follow their interpretation of Islamic dress codes.
At a time when more than half of the population relies on humanitarian aid, some aid programs have been suspended.
